Denim Care 101: Washing Baggy Jeans the Right Way

Midnight ink baggy denim 5 pocket full pant from BLISS

Wash Less Often Than You Think

Denim doesn't need washing after every single wear the way a tee does. Our Black Denim 10 Pocket and Midnight Ink Baggy Denim 5 Pocket hold up better and keep their color longer when washed every four to six wears rather than after each use, unless visibly dirty.

Turn Them Inside Out

Just like printed tees, denim should be washed inside out to reduce friction against the outer surface, which is where fading and pilling actually happen.

Cold Water, Always

Hot water strips indigo dye faster than cold. Washing our Sky Fade Baggy Denim or Black Denim styles in cold water preserves the intended wash and color for significantly longer.

Skip the Dryer When Possible

Heat from a dryer breaks down denim fibers over time and can shrink baggy pants out of their intended relaxed fit. Air drying flat or on a hanger keeps the silhouette — the specific baggy drape you bought the pants for — intact.

Washing Cord Pants Differently

Our corduroy pieces, like the Biskit Brown Cord and Chocolate Cord Baggy Full Pants, need slightly gentler handling than denim — turn inside out, cold wash, and avoid high spin cycles that can crush the ribbed texture.

Dealing With a Faded Wash You Don't Want

If a denim pant like the Black Denim 4 Pocket starts fading unevenly, washing it inside out going forward and switching to cold water going forward can slow further fading, though a wash that's already happened can't fully be reversed.

Storing Denim Between Wears

Fold or hang baggy denim rather than leaving it balled up — deep creases held for long periods can weaken denim fibers at the fold lines over time.

The Payoff of Proper Care

A well-cared-for pair of baggy denim from BLISS should hold its color, shape, and pocket stitching for years of regular wear — most premature wear comes down to over-washing and dryer heat, both fixable habits.
